Back from four wonderful days in the country with a wonderful family that’s not mine and that I love so much !
Jane Austen and tea and lemon curd and more tea and pompe à la tome and ficelle and just good meals, muddy walks, golden sunny warm days and rainy foggy freezing days, and the never-failing ceramic water-bottle.

Homemade cloud oreos, grapefruit for breakfast.
In the end, I prefer the cookies without filling (I left quite a few alone). They’re really good but a bit too complicated to make for simple cookies. I’ll keep the cocoa powder-salt-and-pepper combination though, with a more basic cookie recipe.
(The filled ones are still very good !)
This is what my day looked like.

It’s sunday morning 11 a.m., and so far I’ve baked a puffy hazelnut cake, a lemon cake shaped as the Mont-Blanc (I’ll make a lemon glaze later) and 40 scones.
I’m not just hungry, it’s my mom’s birthday.
I also have some chocolate caramels left that I made yesterday with my grandmother’s secret recipe.
I’ll make gougères a little later.

Loving these pictures by Sheena !
It was a beautiful weekend.
We saw four movies, drank lots of tea, went to the flower market in the rain, made a Christmas wreath for the first time ever, bought frames, had giant caramelized chouquettes, pasta with duck, and hazelnut&clementine loaf, all very season-appropriate.
And the sun is out today, AND it’s getting colder,...
